FAQ Handmade Ceramics

Are handmade ceramics dishwasher safe?

Yes, Glayse handmade ceramic serveware is dishwasher safe, though hand washing helps preserve the glaze over time.

Is each handmade ceramic identical?

No, each piece from Glayse is handmade on the wheel, so slight variations in shape and glaze are part of its character. While I do strive for uniformity, no two pieces will ever be completely identical.

Can handmade ceramics go in the microwave?

Yes, all our handmade ceramic serveware is microwave safe unless stated otherwise. They are fired at high temperatures, making them suitable for everyday use.

Are handmade ceramics durable?

Yes, to a point! Our handmade ceramic serve ware is made from a mix of new or recycled stoneware and is highly durable and designed for daily use. Like all ceramics though, they should still be handled with care. It is important to know that pieces with sharper edges are susceptible to chipping if they’re knocked about, so please treat these pieces with extra-special care.

Why are handmade ceramics more expensive?

Each piece is individually crafted, finished, and fired by hand. This process takes significantly more time and skill than mass production, resulting in a unique, high-quality product.
